Personality: Alirose is both a passionate woman and a capable leader. Confident in her ability to run Fort, this fiery red-head brooks no challenge or argument on that score. Unlike many in the Weyr, she is open-minded about introducing female riders into the population, taking a "desperate times call for desperate measures" stance on the issue. She is strong-willed, ambitious, and fiercely devoted to her gold and and her Weyr. Due to her forceful personality and introversion, Alirose will only ever have a small, close-knit group of allies. She will defend them as ardently as she defends her protectorate.

Unfortunately, Ali is known as a bit of a loose canon. While her queen is the picture of serenity, this woman is anything but "laid-back." When something lights this lady's fuse, it will burn until she explodes with temper; an insult or retort hurled in anger will land Ali in hot water more often than is seemly for a Weyrwoman. By nature she is an impulsive creature, and without Seleneth's level-headed guidance, this trait alone might jeopardize Alirose's ability to effectively lead the Weyr.

Although Pern has seen its share of tragedy in recent days, this is one Weyrwoman who believes that better times are just around the corner for her people. With what seems to be the weight of the world on her shoulders, Ali is more than ready to step in and lead the way forward.

History: Ali was born at Fort Weyr, the product of a gold flight tryst between a brown rider and a lower caverns worker. Fostered into the creche as quickly as her mother could leave her there, the little girl grew up surrounded by the love and support of many aunties, brothers and sisters. She was an active child, almost hyperactive, and at twelve she was presented to the Weyr potters as an apprentice. As her caretakers had hoped, Alirose channeled her energy into her craft work and calmed considerably.

A Searchdragon picked up on the girl's potential in her fifteenth turn, and when the next clutch produced a gold egg, she was allowed to Stand for it. The hulking queen toddled right over to Alirose and Impression was made; the girl and her dragon instantly settled into a close bond based on mutual understanding and team work.

The pair quickly gained notice from the current Weyrwoman, Ofelia, who singled Alirose out as her successor. The turns passed rather uneventfully...that is, until the approach of the Red Star. As the world seemed to fall apart around them, the future leader of Fort was brought low by a personal tragedy: Wingsecond L'phen of bronze Cagmiath, the father of her unborn son Pherose, was killed in the eruption at Ista.

The heartbreak and total shock of the event brought the baby boy early, and the little one was almost lost. Once she and her child had recovered, a grieving Alirose threw herself into the recovery effort. The loss of her mentor Ofelia, her gold, her clutch, the Weyrleader and his bronze, all fell like hammer blows on stricken Fort Weyr -- and the tougher the times, the harder Ali worked to set everything back to rights.

Just when it looked like she might catch a break and finally claim her rightful title as Weyrwoman of Fort, Teriah's Herath threw even that certainty into the lurch. While Seleneth viewed the usurpation of her position with her usual lackadaisical attitude, Ali reacted with fury that was uncharacteristic even for her. She led the crusade to remove Teriah and eventually succeeded. Now that she and Seleneth can take their place at the helm of the Weyr, Interim Weyrwoman Alirose hopes that they can add some stability in a truly unstable time.


Physical description: Standing at 5'7", Alirose is slightly above average in height. Pregnancy has left a bit of weight on her usually spare frame, and she's been working diligently to get back to her pre-baby size. Thanks to the rigors of dragonriding her arms and legs are toned and muscular. Her hips are pleasantly rounded, her chest is shapely enough to give her a classic curvy figure.

Ali's hair is a dark auburn color, and she keeps it cut around shoulder length, just long enough to pull back under her riding helmet. She's got fair skin with a smattering of freckles and a growing number of brown sun spots as a result of many hours spent in the sun. Her eyes are hazel, but lean more toward brown than green. Her voice is light and clear, high-pitched yet still alluringly feminine. Alirose favors comfort over style in her choice of clothing; rarely found in a dress or skirt, she much prefers an airy tunic and loose cut pants when not in her riding leathers.

Personality: A solid rock in the midst of a fast flowing river, that's Alirose's gold. For all her rider's passion and vigor, Seleneth is about as cool and composed as they come. It's not that she's inwardly emotional and feigning nonchalance; the fact is, more often than not, Seleneth just doesn't have a strong feeling either way. She's a friendly soul, caring and maternal, performing her duties as a queen dragon and the Weyrwoman's gold to satisfaction, no more and no less. She's not an ambitious social climber, or a battle-hardened warrior, or even a particularly sharp mind. In the end, this dragon is happy with just existing, and she excels at being a steady, constant source of reassurance and peace for all those around her.

As for romance, Seleneth would prefer to find the perfect mate and settle down. Once she meets that special male, he can expect to win her time and again, unless Alirose steps in to influence the outcome. Overall she's proven herself to be a good producer, and with a Pass so imminent her clutches are expected to become even larger.

Description: Seleneth is a pale, buttery gold, almost like heavy cream turned metallic. This coloration is unbroken but for a single marking on her back, just behind her wings. Looking at her in profile, she appears to have a single stripe running from her spine and curving along her back on each side staying just above her hip, coming to a point under each wing. However, when viewed from above, it becomes apparent that this shape is really a crescent, draped gracefully over the middle of the dragon's back. The lunar marking is a medium gold, eye catching but not too harsh against the much lighter parts of her hide.

Compared to other golds, Seleneth's length is only slightly above average. Her wingspan is exactly on point. She is known to have periodic fluctuations in weight; nothing alarming or even markedly visible, just a gradual waxing and waning of her size over time. Like most fighting dragons her musculature is sturdy, but her overall build and features have an obvious femininity about them. She moves with a fluid, languid motion that seems to imply she never gets in much of a hurry, and in the air she takes any chance she can get to have a relaxing glide.

Personality: Friendly, outgoing, and always looking for an excuse to party, Hirany believes in living fast and enjoying the ride while you're on it. Although this gregarious young woman will have plenty of friends, she especially likes being around children. She finds a kindred soul in a child's innocence and love of play.

Despite a penchant for getting tipsy on fine wine and waking up in strange weyrs, Hirany takes her responsibility as a dragonrider very seriously. She loves the Weyr, all of its inhabitants, and weyrlife in general.

She enjoys a good dirty joke and can be quite blunt about her sex life (which is varied and storied). She will welcome flights as a rider and view them as a rollicking excuse to experiment. Someday she might want to settle down with that special guy (or gal) of her dreams... But baby, someday *certainly* ain't tonight!

History: For the most part Hirany's story is nothing novel. Born at Fort Hold to a farmer and his beastcrafter wife, she was the middle child of three (which may have contributed to her wild behavior and need for attention). Her older brother, Hemson, was Searched to High Reaches and is now H'son of blue Feth. Her younger sister Hreeja was killed by falling debris during an earthquake at the age of 10.

Searched for Herath's clutch just before her 21st birthingday, the young woman took to weyrlife like a dragon to flight. In addition to making lots of new friends, she discovered her passion for children and began working in the creche. She's had plenty of flings so far and isn't looking forward to being restricted to the Weyrling Barracks if and when she Impresses...if she thinks she can get away with it, she'll be bending certain rules before the WLM's know what hit 'em.

Physical Description: At just 5'2", Hirany isn't exactly the tallest woman in the Weyr. She's got an average build, more wiry than muscular, and her overall body type is pear-shaped -- fuller through the hips and smaller in the bosom area. She's got very light blonde hair that is kept short for convenience, and gray-blue eyes. A chip in her left front tooth makes her feel self conscious about showing teeth, so the most you'll get out of her is a coy looking grin. Hirany isn't a big fan of clothing, but if she absolutely *has* to wear something, it'll be skimpy, slinky, or suggestive.

Personality: H'dor is generally perceived as an all around good guy. Steady, dependable, and genuinely loyal, this bronzer is the type of rider you can really rely on, come what may. As a child folk praised little Halondor for his composition under fire and maturity that seemed beyond his years. Even as an adult, H'dor gives the impression of an old soul in a young man's body.

Unfortunately, he's never acquired a knack for humor. H'dor seems to take everything seriously, *everything*, and as a result he usually comes across as being dry. In addition to having little in the way of a sense of humor, he's also an introvert and prefers to keep to himself. This tendency has become even more pronounced since the destruction of his home Weyr and the demise of almost everyone he knew. For H'dor, there's little to smile about these days.

History: The second son and fourth child born to a pauper and his wife, Halondor's early life was hard scrabble to say the least. Everyday was a struggle to find food, water, and shelter...at times his parents would need to go without all three so that their children might enjoy such luxuries. It seemed a forgone conclusion that the boy's future would end in drudgery or thieving... until his thirteenth birthingday came around.

A blue dragon came on Search for Igen Weyr, and selected a ragged, dirty little slip of a teenager as a Candidate. Overjoyed at this miraculous turn of events, Halondor's parents sent him on his way. The young man swore to come back for them all when he'd made his living as a dragonrider, then set his sights on a new life.

Quiet, serious little Halondor was the smallest of all the boys his age, and immediately a target for bullies. With surprising grace and dignity, he shrugged off their taunts to quickly rise to the top of his class. After two turns of hard work (and some very quick growing) Halondor finally came into his own and met his ultimate match: bronze Joseth.

Their weyrlinghood passed without incident and once graduated to the Wings it became clear that the pair were destined for greatness. H'dor shot up the Weyr hierarchy to become one of the youngest wingleaders ever recorded at Igen...and in the meantime, he won the heart of Junior Weyrwoman Kalesia, and managed to bring his family out of their abject poverty. Everyone whispered that Joseth was poised to catch Kalesia's gold Lensith in her next Flight...

...And then their world came to an end.

Out on a diplomatic assignment when Igen erupted, H'dor was one of the lucky few who were spared a sudden, fiery demise. Kalesia and Lensith were not as fortunate. Nearly inconsolable with grief, the bronzer would have taken himself and his dragon between, had it not been for the influence of his good friend, Candidatemaster T'var of brown Matimith. At T'var's insistence, H'dor transferred to Fort for a fresh start. Now, the displaced rider looks forward to the coming of Thread as a welcome distraction from the memories that haunt him at every turn.


Physical description: H'dor stands a respectable 6' even, has broad shoulders and a powerfully muscled torso. His skin is a light mocha brown, his eyes and hair so dark as to look almost black, all due to his Igenian heritage. He's got a longish face, with high cheek bones and a strong, masculine jaw; his nose is long and straight set above full lips.

H'dor's coal black hair is generally cropped very short for convenience and cooling. More often than not he grows a beard or goatee, but always keeps his facial hair neatly trimmed. At Igen, he dressed in white more often than not to avoid baking in the desert sun--but now that he's in the more temperate climate of Fort, he can indulge his love of darker clothing. Deep blues, greens, browns and even a hint of black will figure into his wardrobe. He wears a yellow gold band on the ring finger of his right hand, with the name "Kalesia" engraved inside.

Personality: "Jo" is a typical bronze. Arrogant, brazen, and at times foolhardy, this shiny has all the flair and personality that his rider lacks. As half of one of the youngest Wingleader pairs in Igenian history, this dragon knows he's something special...never mind that the disaster left him at the bottom of the pecking order in a brand new Weyr-- Jo never met a hierarchy he couldn't scale!

Description: Though you couldn't tell it from this dragon's bluster, he's actually quite small for a bronze. His frame is compact and very muscular, his stance a bit square, his wingspan somewhat lacking. Even his head is short, with a blunt muzzle, block jaw and small head knobs. His hide is a greenish-tinted bronze unbroken by markings.
